I hear this from time to time from clients that come to me for a resume makeover. Potential employers actually tell them, "Sorry, you are over-qualified for this position."
Are these employers nuts? Don't they realize that when they hire a highly-qualified candidate they benefit from:
- hiring an employee that doesn't require the time and expense associated with training
- hiring an employee that will not require micro-managing
- hiring an employee that can, and will, hit the ground running
So what do you suppose the real reason is behind an employer turning down a highly-qualified candidate? I suspect it has something to do with the enjoyment of micro-managing by some employers...what do you think?
